>>Thanks Dirk and Sean for your followups. Got it.

Uh, duh, but where did you "get it"? I remember Client for
Microsoft Networks (and the choices mentioned) from
Win 95, but in my NT Workstation properties I have no
such page as configuration, and on the Services page
I have Workstation and Server, but they have no properties to
configure.

Now under Identification I can change my logon
between workgroup and domain. I have to pull
out a 20-lb reference every time I open the user
manager <g>, so I hardly qualify as an expert, but
what makes me so different? I wonder. I am in
a domain (currently with the primary domain
controller dead and the backup sick <GGG>, but
that's another story. Why am I grinning instead
of plugging hardware? Because I'm
leaving town Sunday, that's why <GGGGG>).

Possibly domain rather than workgroup is the difference.
It's been so long since I ran as a stand alone workstation
I can't remember it. Anyhow, glad you got fixed.
