You wouldn't happen to work in a white house near Lawrence and Duane in Sunnyvale, would you (i.e. 1 AMD Way)? Not to be overly negative, as you are right--dominant companies fail all the time (look at the stocks that rotated into and out of the DOW over the last several decades) and smaller companies 'win'--but have you looked at the long-term chart on this stock? It was trading at 30 in January 1984, so it's down 33% in the last 14 years. There comes a point where you have to see Jerry is often quite wrong.

I'm thinking "short" once the hype subsides. I'd love to see it run up to thirty first, though!
