Overall volume on NASDAQ is 860 million shares. Among the top 10 volumes of all time. I don't know what world you are in? :) Today's rally was strong, broad-based, on high volume. As to DELL, it split recently, hence the volume below the average; but as studies have shown, volume tends to drop to about 0.7 times pre-split volume as day traders who trade in blocks of 1000 shares don't start trading in blocks of 2000 after split.
