David, in point of fact, the 3-judge panel exercises virtually no control over Starr. He operates in the never, never land between, shielded from Reno and beyond the control of the judiciary. Since the law was enacted, no IC has ever been removed or had an investigation shut down. Once the dogs are set upon their quarry, there's no stopping them.

Also, if reports are right, Starr's investigation was based on the LIES of Linda Tripp. He went to Reno with the story that he saw a pattern between Clinton's alleged "payoff" of Hubbell and his treatment of Lewinsky. According to ML, the whole idea of a job-for-subpoena trade was Tripp's in the first place. She in fact denied that Clinton ever suggested it. If there is any justice in this world, Linda Tripp will someday be counted among one of the people convicted of a crime by the Starr investigation.

Doughboy.

Yes, my friend, they should be irrelevant. Unfortunately, thanks to the numerous conflicts of interest that Starr has entangled himself in, thanks to the company he keeps and the things he's said, Ayatollah Starr's social vision and values **DO** matter. How else could an investigation that started out about a land deal 20 years ago turn into an 1984esque probe into Sex Crimes?
