I agree that Bush was really honorable. He also had no domestic vision. He gave no evidence of knowledge or skill in managing the economy either.

He did a fabulous job or rallying international, and then U.S. support to his determined, and gutsy, Gulf War stand. (It may not seem gutsy in retrospect, but at the time it was, and hugely so.)

In doing so he changed for the better America's influence in the world enormously. And respect for our military soared, both at home, and abroad.

My take.

P.S. I voted for him the first time. Clinton the second. Still happy about both decisions.
