Here is an interesting experience on TNT I read on the Yahoo board. The most interesting part of it is that CL had to apologize for nvid's hype. If true, I wonder if this is getting some OEMs (as well as some card makers) to rethink their relationship with nvid.

P.S com'n guys. Somebody here knows the answer to which banshee board I should buy. So out with it.

P.P.S. Ballard has not called me back yet. I specifically asked to talk with him or D.Z. I let you know how it goes.

===========

I sold my stock when I heard that Nvidia was releasing this super card (TNT) because I
believed the hype. I just bought a TNT and got a nice little blue paper from creative apoligizing
for Nvidia and thier misleadiing claims (125 to 90 hz!) 25 micron to 35 fatcron. The fact is I paid
$200 for an old style chip that only caters to microsoft and directX. All gl games suck (see
explosions in GLpolice and forget Carmeggedon II).

If I could do it all again I would get a Banshee $99 Same 16meg ram, AGP, 2d/3d and plays
Glide! The only downside is lack of 32 bit colors. woohoo... by the time real games with 32bit
colors are made with any real effort (as glide is) we'll be buying newer V3 cards anyway. The
fact is OpenGL (TNT's claim to fame, which still does not beat Glide) is not even standard
(check unreal). Oh and the ability to run 1600 resolutions... who cares. I have a 17" monitor and
running anything over 1024 in my screen looks blury and I'm not sure how many 17" monitors
support 1280 at 85hz (recommended). The truth is that TNT is being bought on hype for the
future, a future we all know changes is to fast to buy stuff for the future. Buy a Banshee at $99
and you'll get to keep it till late 99', maybe then will we be seeing the newer features being
implemented and buy the V2000.

Overall, keep the stock, TDFX has the best developers in the business and a leg up on 3D
graphics. They are the IBM of 3D gaming and hold Glide in thier pocket (best api around)
