What will be the killer app for the storage
industry.

Video. Huge storage requirements. Adaptec has released Vide-Oh! -- for $300 or so you can get Vide-Oh and a CD-W drive and create your own video CDs. Run all your 8mm or VHS tapes onto your hard drive (cheap interfaces), edit them, make CDs to send to Grandma, etc. In five years, if not less, a substantial number of the Christmas cards exchanged will be CD-Roms. Companies can produce cheap CD-Roms for customers, customizing them and burning in a separate one for each customer or class of customers. Huge amounts of storage required to store all the video clips. Just ask yourself:how much storage do you need to download just 10 hours of 8mm tape from tapes onto disk???
