I am looking at a slightly more technical level.

SAP is the gorilla in the ERP space. There is no question about this. Simlarly Siebel is the Gorilla in the SFA space, and I2/Manugistics are the gorillas in the Supply chain markets. SAP has tried to enter these markets, but as Plattner himself says, they will take three years to get at the same level. I assume that he is taking into account that i2, Manugistics and SIebel are not going to be sitting around...But in any case, this is an eye-opening confession.

This being said, currently there is a slowdown in the Manugistics sales due to a lot of expectations from SAP by customers. Customers have just been frozen.

Now, considering that ERP market is not going to see the same growth that Supply Chain, and SFA will see. (this is my theory), if I2, and Siebel are able to sell aggresively and are successful, it might not be that easy for SAP to get market share in these growing markets.
