Talk of Informix at $12 soon and Informix being manipulated are to my view a bit optimistic. I think there is enough valid uncertainty to support honest selling and honest shorting.

I am particularly concerned about the qaulity of the sales people that have left in the last year and a half and the quality of new sales people that have started in the last twelve months.

I am still optimistic on Informix, but believe that it is not going to rocket up to $12 this year. I expect the same pattern as we have seen previously -- it will rise before earnings and then drop back -- irregardless of how good those earnings are. Then we may see more end of year tax selling (like we saw last year).

Gardner and Meta Group are just as negative on Informix as they were 18 months ago. The Big Six seems to be negative also. This combined with possibly a less talented sales force is bad for sales.

However, I am strong in my belief that looking back five years from now IFMX stock will have outperformed the marker. However, do not expect everything to be rosy in the next few months. I hope so, but I think one must be try to be objective in evaluating this stock and look at the low book value, P/E to realistic growth ratio, the barriers and obstacles to revenue growth and the lack of large number of new customers at present.
