Mohan, Remember Dell is primarily a company dealing with businesses although they want more home sales as well.

Since most businesses don't have the Playboy or MTV channels coming into the office (until now) it makes sense for Dell to try thru the regional phone companies.

Another thing, you have Michael and Bill Gates saying offices will become more portable with communications and data transfer thru portables. This is a good step in that direction.

Mohan, re: Cable modems.

Cable is a shared medium (one line) as more user go line the speed goes down. Were as, xDSL is many. The real solution is Fiber to the curb. LU has just come out with a cheap method of doing this, but alas, the story was lost in the summer of Clinton and world economic troubles.
