GM,
From my earlier post. Statement from article in Electronics News Online.

<snip>
Mr. Kupec, who had just stepped off a plane returning from Taiwan last Friday, also revealed plans to acquire additional facilities. He said that plan has not been put on hold and that UMC is continuing discussions with various companies to purchase their manufacturing facilities. "We are looking at purchasing other fabs that are pre-existing facilities. We are talking with four of them; one in Japan, two in Europe and one in the U.S.

"There are opportunities in terms of availability as well as allowing us to expand the foundry market with local representation."

Mr. Kupec also clarified earlier industry reports that UMC will announce an acquisition by the end of September. He said that in reality the company will make the decision on whether to purchase by the end of September, and any related announcement would come at a later date.

Gottfried, I believe that AMAT and the analyst downgrade to drive the price lower only to buy in and then upgrade when AMAT does better than their expectations. Low balling (not Clinton,<GGG>) does have positive results. Are you surprised buy the strength of AMAT? As you can see after reviewing the individual Bull Percentage charts of the NYSE, OTC, option, 10week, hilo, 30week and Sectors it looks like the market is going to take off. What is your take?

Just my $.02.

Paul V.

GM: re: " I'm tempted not to post these revisions any more. "

Please keep posting them. They are inaccurate and useful. It's nice to know the mood of the analyst herd.
