I don't know if he is short AMZN right now, but a while ago, his column mentioned that he was going to short AMZN due to the impending spinoff of Barnes and Noble's Internet division. His thinking was that when B&N spins off the Internet division, they will be on equal footing with AMZN since they will no longer have to worry about diluting B&N's parent company. Also, he went on to say that they will do a lot of AMZN bashing during their roadshow and this certainly won't help AMZN.
