To "lakers17". you certainly write extremely well and you most definitely make a lot of very thought provoking points. i commend you for that. you are obviously a very well educated and very intelligent person. yes, i DO have some "micro-cap" stocks in my stock-portfolio that i wish that i had never bought, but i also have some "mid-cap" and "higher-end" stocks in my stock portfolio that i wish that i had never bought!! however, after saying - and admitting - to all of that i have to add that i am not at all upset about this fact!! i simply do not invest in the stock market like most people do. whenever i have a stock that has gone down in price since i bought it, i merely "hold-on" to it. i have been doing this for many years now and it has been my experience that sooner or later all of my "bad-boy" stocks go back up to a price where i am able to sell them for - at least - some profit. yes, it is certainly true that sometimes i have to hold some of these stocks for a lot longer then i had originally planned to, but that is simply the way that this "stock-business" sometimes operates. i can honestly tell you that the stocks that i have in my portfolio that are like this ("bad-boy" stocks) make up a VERY small percentage - maybe five (5) to ten (10) percent - of my total stock portfolio. please do not tell me to sell any of these stocks for a "tax-loss". i am TOTALLY against ever doing that - i told you that i was different!! i may die with some of these companies in my portfolio, but i will never - NEVER!! - sell any of my stock holdings for a "tax-loss". i just happen to believe that idea is completely "nuts"!! i have learned that "PATIENCE" is the name of the game in this business, my friend, and i most definitely have a lot of patience!! take care, my friend. God bless.
