My friend. if i was in the kind of position that you describe then, yes, i guess that i would take a tax-loss. i don't know, maybe i have just been very lucky, but i really don't have any sizable tax-losses even if i were to sell all of my stocks that i am presently holding at a (paper) loss. i can certainly see your point though. in the kind of situation that you so clearly describe, it would seem to me that a tax-loss sell of at least some stocks would, in fact, be a very smart thing to do. take care, my friend.
