there are other potential suitors beside csco; also cien was pushed down by panic selling because of the merger being off; imo, cien based on the revenue and earnings estimate, at this price level is still a bargain; 1999 estimate is around 1$, based on avearge networking sector PE of around 35 to 45 the stock should be at least 35$; also this is what it should be in the first place if there was no merger fall-off and only the contracts cancellation-

Funny how reporters say things differently....

Chambers (according to USA today) said a merger would be "difficult" since CIEN is on the East Coast.

But CSCO's competitors are not limiting themselevs this way. I think his comments downplay a merger for all the obvious reasons.

And like I said earlier...this news was in Yesterday's USA Today.
