I have no problems with password caching in NT. I do remember an issue with IE 4.0 and 4.01,(in NT) in that the .pwl files didn't get get kept, once the browser was closed, but the details are foggy in my similarly foggy mind. I'm sure Sean or someone will come to the rescue.

As for SI, someone turned me on to a little trick, which has been great. If you have SI bookmarked, you may have a bookmark like:

techstocks.com.

If you place your username, followed by a colon, your password, and the symbol @ between the forward slashes and the word 'talk', you will have something like this:

http://len:foggy@talk.techstocks.com/~wsapi/investor/main-0

Using that, you will never be asked for your password again. One caveat: if you send or copy a link to any post in SI, you will most of the time have to manually remove your p/w information from the link before you post or send it, unless you don't mind the person who will be using it seeing your information. You can avoid that by copying the URL from the box at the bottom of most pages, when you wish to send or copy the link.
