I don't think ther'll be a cut. They'll say they "now have a bias towards easing". They'll try to avoid doing something for as long as possible. If there is a cut then 0.25.

Of the financials I've checked BT seems the worst hit.

All are down. I wonder which banks lent to Long Term Capital. Those guys always said in their papers that you cna't beat the market average... <g>

Def, thanks. I have had slight doubts about my bearish convictions. After looking at the LTCM debacle, no more! The bailout package spells out that they try to liquidate in an orderly manner. That is in essence telling the potential buyers to back-off. TRV CEO was on NBR today. He claims victory in buying the assets (what assets?) from LTCM for 90% of the face value. You can see the uncomfortable feeling in his face when talking about the bail-out. He says the Feds didn't force them. Yeah, right! (I will give a link to the transcripts tomorrow.)
