Speaking of NS 4.06, is this upgrade worthwhile? Specifically,
does it support Java 1.1 (even more specifically, the Datek
Streamer)?

Bad memory leaks in NT (revisited): am I the only one?

I know we've touched on this before, but I'm having really bad memory leaks in NT 4.0 SP3. This seems true regardless of what apps are loaded, and it gets worse the longer I leave the machine idle without rebooting. I'm using both NS 4.06 and IE 4, (several screens of each) along with the gotit proxy server, a notepad substitute, Internet Trader, and a few other minor programs. It's been suggested (reasonably enough) that I try process of elimination, but aside from spot checking (which I have done,) this is impractical since I need to use the machine pretty constantly.

This happens regularly on both my notebook and both desktops, so I don't think it's machine specific. The problem does NOT go away when I close down apps. This AM, sluggish performance led me to check tskmgr, which showed I was using 180+ megs of ram! (stopped last night with just 80 megs in use.)

Any others have this problem? What has worked for you? Have any of the aps I mentioned caused you troubles?

TIA,

Dave
