Can you provide a press release confirming that MSFT will be in the search engine business?

Search engine? Have you been paying that little attention here? Even Yahoo doesn't want to be JUST a search engine. Try portal, and yes, MSFT is in that biz. Visit MSN. They offer a variety of search engines (just like Netscape does) and, in fact, announced just the other day that AOL and Yahoo will be dropped from their search engine lineup (again just like Netscape which dropped Yahoo a couple months ago).

Hello 49ERSteve!

It's rumors floating around that Microsoft will be out with a killer portal in October. Knowing the history of MSFT we all know they are not going to give away any market related to software as well as the internet. Basically they want to be number 1 in all their businesses and the internet portals is simply too important for them to lose. Just as Explorer took care of Netscape, similarly with their deep pockets they will take care of Yahoo and put it in right along side of Netscape.
