Hey, something we agree on - NSCP beats IE hands down (though my Communicator 4.03 sure crashes a lot). That said, the important things are 1) MANY people do use IE and if it steers new internet users toward MSFT owned sites (just like NSCP) - advantage MSFT for grabbing them first; 2) both MSFT and NSCP offer several choices of search engines within their portal sites, but neither will be offering Yahoo once the new MSN is unveiled - advantage everyone else as all the other search engines get tried out first.

So, it makes no difference whether you use MSFT or NSCP software. Neither one will be steering new users toward Yahoo.

BTW, many would disagree with you on the merits of Yahoo's search engine vs. others such as Altavista. Also, IBM just announced the development of a new search algorithm that should vastly improve the search engines that license the technology. It remains to be seen whether Yahoo, which actually provides a manually compile directory rather than search technology, will adopt IBM's technology.

49erSteve...I'm a Seahawk fan, wouldn't have admitted it until this year as they are currently 3-0 for a change.....

Something more important I would like to ask you and the rest of the thread....Has anybody here been discussing the product called @Guard?...What do you think of it as a hinderance to the long-term growth of YHOO and other "portal" sites who have been growing revenues via advertising agreements?

Thank you Steve, and all who respond to my question.

Regards, George
