Hi Darleen: Recession or merely slower growth? I've watched the sooth-sayers for about 35 years, myself being one covering specific sectors.

Record on projecting economic activity world wide is pretty spotty, at best. Too often I found concrete admissions by economists that they were biasing predictions for personal reasons, e.g. employed by a politician so the economist sang that pol's song. So who to trust?

I see a bursting debt bubble that will drag at personal incomes through a variety of mechanisms as either 1) the lenders get screwed through reflating or, 2) the borrowers get screwed as lenders demand debt be serviced.

Could spend massive amounts of my time worrying about the outcome. I find it better to insulate my assets - remember 35 years in the business reveal the secrets of the universe - and go sailing.

Slow or fast, markets will still go somewhere. It will be more fun figuring out how to play that market move as it unveils itself, than worrying how fast or slow.

All this wailing and rending of clothes..........
