So has anyone who received the buy-in notices actually been
bought in? I received one for HEB, but it's well after the
noon EDT deadline, and I haven't been bought in.

I called Datek to ask them the reason for the buy-in on SRCM. They told me that a large broker had called in all the shares.
Seemed like I read an article somewhere that the SEC wanted to crack down on brokerage houses selling shares they hadn't even borrowed. I wonder if something like this might be going on. I covered my SRCM short today. I wish I had held onto it in hopes that they might change their mind. Live and learn.
