Mark -

The writer(s) of the articles discussed here may not have gotten the information directly from Ancor (so the NDA may be a non-issue). Some of the trade press are pretty astute at doing their homework and networking inside the industry, and they're not shy when it comes to burning up the phone lines in pursuit of a story. Of course, some are not very astute...fortunately for us, it appears one of the more astute writers did his homework well.

Mark,

I have never bought the NDA excuse either, at least not to the extent to which Ancor seems to use it. Frankly, I think Ancor would be better off telling us conceptually, how their products are being used. Then, we could try to figure out the names from there. In the case of IBM Global Services, why not say that "fill in a number" of MKII switches had been sold to a vendor (no names) for use in developing or implementing an enterprise level Intelligent Storage Area Network. That doesn't give anything away, doesn't promise anything, and still gives us a clue as to what is really going on. (I'd like even more technical detail, but that probably won't happen.)

I saw an interview on CNBC a week or so ago where one of the experts said that an important aspect of good management is to provide a vision for where the company is headed. That vision (or at least the clear articulation of that vision) has been lacking.
