NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Stocks unraveled late in Thursday's session amid mounting worries that the damage done by financial derivatives on U.S. banks and brokerage firms is yet to peak.

The near-collapse of a major hedge fund and an admission of steep market-related losses by Europe's biggest bank were fresh reminders that the world's financial system remains fragile.

At 3:21 p.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average skidded 168.64 points, or 2.1 percent, to 7,984.00. Wednesday, the popular yardstick surged 257.21 points, or 3.3 percent, in its fifth-largest point gain ever.

Greg, I suppose that you are right. He has actually shown that he is capable of civil discourse
