Are you familiar with Intel's history of preannouncing increased revenues?

The last time they did this was mid-September, 1996. This created the "gap at 90" (now 45, post split).

At the time, the estimate was $1.14; the announcement caused the pundits to raise the estimate to $1.25.

In mid-October Intel announced earnings of $1.48. The rest is history.

I believe Intel takes preannouncements of increased revenues very seriously.
