Wow, you guys are taking me back to the bad old days of 1997. That was one of Amelio's favorite comebacks, mentioning that Apple had, what was it, twice as many patents as Microsoft? Or was it just twice as many in the most recent year? Something like that. Eric, what's your take on Apple's growing cash position? Isn't a good portion of it due to cutting inventory levels? Aren't levels hundreds of millions lower than a year ago? As for the Microsoft payments, numbers as large as $350 million would seem to be in conflict with the official comments that these payments wouldn't be overly significant. Then again, soup ran into that Wall Street guy who claimed that Apple had an extra billion lying around and paid off the cloners, big-time. Who knows? Andrew, perhaps one way to explain higher than expected G3 sales is to consider the existing inventory at the beginning of the quarter completely drained. I don't remember offhand how large the figure was--$200 million or so? I think we can consider all those units gone, as well as just about every unit that Apple manufactured this quarter. Apple only needs to ship the units to be able to count them as sold, so it will be interesting to see what the inventory level is this quarter. I think I'm saying this correctly. A million units is no longer out of the question, though it does depend on inventory, how the iMac affected AIO, etc. I wonder if 850,000 units is conservative and 1,000,000 is aggressive? Forgot to put in my sell order last night at 39 7/16. Annoying, as it was my plan. Would've bought it back today though--holding Apple at these levels is a near-no-brainer. High Grader's predictions/analysis have been amazing ... And $45-$53 sounds about right for next month. Jim, are we really expecting that big a push for OS 8.5? Marc
