Foxy--It is a true story.
One of the disturbing aspects of my memories of the South is how well I fit in. I have been censoring out the gory memories because of the delicate nature of the Flame thread.
As far as the ticket goes and if it gets lost in the mail, it is hard to say if you would get in trouble or not. That will depend on a number of factors: do you have a dress with a deep plunging neckline, how do you look in it, and will you get a male judge?

foxey,
I wouldn't think that the ticket would present a problem. They probably forgot it in the press of business. If it was lost in the mail, it shouldn't be a problem unless you get stopped again. Then it would depend on the cop making the stop. Reactions could vary from a "Ma'am, you have an unpaid ticket that you need to pay" to being jerked out of the car and stomped until your kidneys pop out your ears. I would give the latter a very low probability but it becomes a matter of how risk-tolerant you are of your kidneys.
An alternative would be to get a set of dark glasses, wig, fake mustache, and trench coat and then call the police department and ask if you have any outstanding tickets that 'you might have inadvertently forgotten'. Only the officer responsible for giving you the ticket would know that he forgot to write you one...the rest would answer the question and hang up.
