Dell and Gateway gets its total mind share from advertising. Compaq's exposure is a blend of advertising and its presence in the distribution channel. What we pay in inventory interest cost they pay in advertising expense . I suspect as we transition to the direct model you will see more and more advertising.

>>> Will someone PLEASE tell EP to advertise some more on TV!!! Everytime I watch the networks, CNBC, and Bloomberg, I see about 20 Gateway and Dell commercials for every Compaq ad...Come on...aren't we supposed to be the number 1 PC maker? Well let's at least show the world we exist! If no one knows about Compaq, no reason for the stock price to move is there? <<<

Why don't you ask someone on the Iomega board what happened when they (Iomega) tried a HUGE advertising campaign <g>

Good Luck
