craig, Kaplan's commentary today states that a 1000 point further drop in Dow will cause 50% of hedge funds to become insolvent since a lot of them are currently set up similar to Long Term Capital. Also a lot of them are still in the gold-dollar carry trade and yen-dollar carry trade so as they go under gold will benefit as these positions are liquidated.

Although I feel sorry for mutual fund investors who are about to get their heads handed to them I feel comfortable that I have my financial house in order. It's too bad that we can't rename the current Hurricane Georges about to blast Florida to Hurricane Alan. Greenspan has sold his soul to the devil or close (Clinton) and his legacy will find a similar fate.

It's really quite humorous to see all this funny money being used to bail out these greedy pigs who bet wrong. Since there is not enough money in the IMF, Central Banks, and regional banks to put out the derivative fire the ultimate outcome has been set. The date is the only variable left.

Terry,
