KG, re >with todays tech, how much data could we put
on a Zip sized disk?
<

Good question. The answer is a design problem beyond my
capacity to solve. But you can make some intelligent
estimates yourself. ZIP was designed how many years ago?
Disk storage density doubles every 18 months due to
technology improvements.

The doubling every 18 months is for hard drives. For
removable disk drives it's probably less. Not because
head and disk can't make it, but because of the greater
mechanical tolerances due to disk interchangeability.
