All Rights Reserved When the digital age is unveiled in the UK on October 1st with the launch of Sky's digital satellite service, Yorkshire-based Pace Micro Technology will be the first and only manufacturer to have set-top boxes in stores for consumers to purchase. Pace has also confirmed that it expects to sell up to 300,000 Sky Digiboxes in the first six months after launch. Pace's manufacturing facility in Yorkshire has been working to full capacity over recent weeks to meet greater than expected demand. The boxes. many of which have been already been reserved at electrical retailers by eager consumers, are currently in the retail and distribution chains. All retailers will have supplies of Pace boxes on Sky"s launch date. Commenting, Andrew Wallace, Marketing Director at Pace, says: "Pace has been manufacturing Sky Digiboxes in volume since June this year, and we are the only manufacturer to be able to do so at this time. The volumes produced have increased significantly over the summer months and our manufacturing lines are currently working to full capacity to ensure that consumer demand is met. Pace is the only manufacturer with contracts to supply digital set-top boxes for all three platforms: digital satellite with BSkyB, terrestrial with ONdigital; and Digital Cable with Cable & Wireless Communications.
