Kerry, the engineering time with Inrange may be the reason for the recent recruiting. wj

Kerry,

<< When you think about this deal, Ancor achieved a number of goals, eg

-entry into a new market niche in a highly profitable manner ( 50-100% margin?)

-significant cash payments over the next 3 quarters to enable the company to survive thru 1999 ( Ancor's quarterly fixed expenses are $3 million )

- no Reg D or Reg S financing necessary

-industry credibility and elimination of perceived risk of doing business with Ancor due to financial condition. This can only enhance Ancor's prospects in closing future OEM's.

-$9 million of virtually guaranteed revenue stream to be recognized over 1-3 quarters.Just on the $7 million licensing portion, this is equivalent to closing a $14 million sale at 50% gross margin. Not too shabby. >>

It is not too shabby. I am still in a state of shock...this time its not bringing me to the levels of complete depression. ;-) You seemed to have forgotten to mention that Ancor gains quite a lot of RESPECT (which they certainly have not been given from people like brocade and others in the distant past) for their technology which I would still like to believe is second to NONE in the FC industry. This INRANGE/GS/SPX deal is very surprising and I don't know what to say. Surprise is not the right word because all I have been thinking about is partnerships and/or oems and this certainly helps validify and help out ancor's chances with other respectable companies before the san market takes off. I don't want to make any guesses, because it just invokes hype, but i will say it will be interesting to watch as always. ;-) the san, like many have guessed here for years (can you believe it?) is something that WILL come true and it feels great knowing that at least many of us were right on that one. im very happy that the two main escon/mainframe peoples are starting to work towards this goal around this time period.

So, on a side note, i bought some baseball cards today (i dont care for baseball much, btw, just not my thing) and I got sammys card for this year...is it worth anything without an autograph across its front page?

cheers

And, if your information is correct, with an up front payment. YEEEHAAAA!

My wife said it best. She said, "They haven't had news this good since the original Sequent announcement".

Craig

P.S. When will you start to fix our decoder rings? <g>
