Respectfully, you need to do some more research. Most of us know about 'order flow', which is what you are talking about. In fact, that is why most people have gone with Datek, since Datek has long advertised and claimed that they DO NOT sell their order flow. It is also why we have all wondered how they DO make money, ostensibly JUST from commissions. One of the ways, until recently, was that they had a subsidiary corporation that did nothing but trade securities, and lots of us felt like that was where the playing around was taking place with our orders. They have since been forced to divest themselves of that company, due to pressure from the authorities. The many instances of seemingly irregular occurrences with our orders is in fact why there have been so many questions, and frankly, allegations of improper actions, and possible illegal manipulations, in this thread for the past 18 months or so. There have been a number of articles this year on just that subject, relating to Datek, and time will tell whether the investigations go anywhere.

As far as e-Trade, they admit they sell order flow, and if someone stays with them in spite of that, then perhaps that person has decided to accept the fills that selling order flow potentiates.
