Strategist Minervini sets stock picks in Barron's
Sunday, September 27, 1998 07:49 PM

NEW YORK, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Mark Minervini, a strategist who told his clients to sell equities just ahead of the U.S. stock market's plunge in August, has turned bullish again and likes stocks including Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO) , Apple Computer Inc. (Nasdaq:AAPL) , and Biogen Inc. (Nasdaq:BGEN) , Barron's said.

Minervini, president of West Haven, Connecticut-based Quantech Research Group, says avoid sectors that are capital-intensive and slow-growth, with limited pricing power and deteriorating profit margins -- like cosmetics and airlines, Barron's said in its September 28 issue.

His recommendations include, Network Appliance Corp. (Nasdaq:NTAP) , Macrovision Corp. (Nasdaq:MVSN) , Dendrite International Inc. (Nasdaq:DRTE) , Broadcom Corp. (Nasdaq:BRCM) , TSI International Software Ltd. (Nasdaq:TSFW) , Cox Communications Inc. (Nyse:COX) , Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (Nyse:ANF) and Legato Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:LGTO) .
