Very good question and one that I have considered--how to unhook the "apathetic." What does it take? In the case of a disenfranchised minority, the only way to get action is for leaders to come forth to motivate others to take similar risks. But in this case right now, minority doesn't apply. The so-called "apathetic" are engaged in many ways already--discussions at home, with neighbors, in supermarket lines, in various Internet forums, on talk shows. I don't believe moderation is the right word. Opinions are fairly well set, on both sides. And the opportunity to express those opinions comes in November. I am hopeful the issue can sustain itself (Congress is helping considerably) to bring out the voters. The NYT this morning carries a front page article on the reverberations of the both the airing of the video and the behavior of the judiciary committee as reflected in opinion polls. The people, most people, don't like what they see in Washington and most of what they see seems aimed at humbling the president and extremely partisan in that regard. We don't like this airing of our dirty wash for us or the world to see. None of us like what happened in the White House but I am satisfied the point has been made. The majority in Congress has to wonder what it has unleashed; its behavior has been akin to a lynch mob, moving in a frenzied pack like hungry dogs. Those folks are smarter than their behavior portrays, however, and I think they will only push the issue so far, milking it ("responsibly", of course) for what they can, vote no to impeach, and then use the remaining three weeks before elections to recover. Most of them are no more than big windsocks anyway. How many true leaders can you count in Congress? Starowl
