Rice and all: I received an email asking my thoughts about the revenue-producting potential of film festivals and what the next NSKY PR might be. Am posting the response here for any others who may have the same questions.

Film festivals are held not only to get recognition and exposure for the various films, but also for the movies' connections (producers, directors, stars, etc.) to rub elbows with movers and shakers.  Many times a movie will already have a domestic theatrical distributor but be looking for a deal for the foreign, video and cable/satellite TV distribution (or any combination thereof).  Would a PR on Freak going to Sundance include numbers?  Probably not unless it also includes the signing on of a domestic distributor before the Sundance announcement who co-sponsors its Festival appearance.  Can Sundance generate money for us?  You bet.  That's what it's for: exposure and much better distribution deals.

I personally have no idea what the next PR will be on.  NSKY has so many things on the horizon, it is hard to predict.  Some of these are:
Freak being submitted to Sundance, due my mid-October;
A possible distribution deal for Freak as talks have been continuing on that as well;
Winchester's ongoing efforts for production financing and distribution of Face Facts;
After Face Facts financing deal, news on its cast and crew;
Efforts in earnest to obtain big-budget financing and distribution (Shapiro's expertise here) for The Hell Candidate, being pointed for release during the 2000 presidential campaign.

Many things are happening with NSKY.  The future is very promising for our investment.
