Arnold, "[W]ithout the internet we could not be sharing in the knowledge this, the Currency and Asia threads are providing...I sometimes wonder if we are moving rapidly towards the elimination of the "middleman" related to most of what we do and learn..if so what would that mean for what we are talking about." That is a great question that a lot of university administrators and a few serious educators are asking themselves now. Not too seriously yet, but getting there. Still in the "visionary" stage. When things settle down a little (but do they ever really settle down? "If not now, when?"), this could be a great topic for a "Coffee Shop" thread. But the enabling technologies aren't quite there yet, I would guess, need more bandwidth, etc., plus more general comfort with technology.
