Hi Kailash:

"Buy In, no More, it has been canceled.

Called Datek up and told them I am transferring my account.
I simply refuse to let them buy me in.
Telephone rep. has back and forth, between me and her back office.
After almost 20 minutes of a very slow calm paced conversation.
Datek's rep. told ,that the Buy in was cancelled.

Sure is a nice day
Michael :)

Kailash, I don't think Datek is ripping people off. I believe they have played fast and loose with share availability in the past. They may have even allowed 'naked' short selling. I was able to freely borrow stocks such as PNDA, CFON, and ENML which were unable to be borrowed at most brokers. I believe that the SEC is finally catching up with them.

It is not just Datek either. I understand Southwest Securities also tightened up. They used to not care if you shorted an unborrowable stock for a day trade. Now you must get cleared for every short if it's not on their preapproved list. Also, there has been a crackdown on cross guaranteed accounts that were used to short on a downtick.

The reality is, playing from the short side is much more difficult than playing long.
