Dan -
does Win98 require new drivers for everything, or just some stuff?

Just for some stuff. I suspect however that 'your mileage may vary' when using older drivers...

Dan,

>>The succession of driver models for the Windows flavors, win3x (mostly in the apps?), Win95, NT3.5, NT4.0, (don't know anything about pre-NT3) must cause the poor highly competitive peripheral co.s to pull hair,

No, the consumer gets to pull his wallet out; all part of the socio-economic majority's flight-from-quality web life-style.

Hi Dan,
Re: WDM

You can use the win98-provided WDM (Windows Death March) drivers, or you can install the win95 drivers for most devices. In particular, I like to replace the Yamaha OPL3 WDM driver with the win95 version, because I think it more stable.
