If the productivity comes from "shrinks" and putting more functionality into a single chip, this is unlikely to drive KLIC's revenues to the degree you seem to expect.

If the shrink occurs without a corresponding increase in transistor count (i.e. the resulting die is smaller), then the die/wafer increases (assuming no yield hit), requiring an increase in bonding equipment, etc. Of course, I think you are suggesting a shrink with an increased transistor count, which may result in a small change in overall die size, and an even smaller change in die/wafer after yield considerations. So, I sort of agree with you on KLIC, but the original author isn't totally off the wall.
