I have two accounts.
One at DLJ for core holdings. And a trading account with Suretrade.
Suretrade is a little simplistic. But I have never had problems borrowing any shares from them. And never had problems like you have with Datek. Besides their margin rates are great, possibly the best in the industry, and commissions are the lowest I've seen. One problem with them is that market orders are often executed at the worst price.
