Dreyfus trades options, allows shorting and boxing in the same account, unlike Datek. Execution notification has been somewhat spotty, sometimes long after a trade occurs. They offer real time options for a fee, or if you are an active trader they credit your account to offset the fee, I think. I'm fairly happy with them, but teh option commissions can't be beat.

E*Trade does options and shorting and they are very progressive with providing sources of research, etc.. You might go to their site at www.etrade.com and check them out.
