BB: "Short squeeze in progress?"

No, I think it is called institutional accumulation in anticipation of a turnaround via strength in the chip stocks like INTC coupled with a bounce off the bottom of an overall market correction.

You are right. There is no good news in this sector except that the institutions are buying the big cap semi-equips. And nothing else matters. As I have said before, waiting for the bookings to turn via SEMI report is a sound investment strategy, but if it is like 1996 you will pay a price in the range of 40% to 60% off the bottom before one can conclude from the report that the ship has turned or has at least stabilized and is ready for battle <GG>.

Poor book to bill was old news for the institutions and fully discounted in the price.

Stall or no stall come next week, welcome to a new and higher trading range.
