Another take on the INTC/MU connection from the MU thread:

siliconinvestor.com

megs, let's think through this. korea is holding back inventory to boost prices. so are japanese companies. higher dram prices are not good for intel. as mike dell said, they'll pass the costs on to the customer. like it or not, that will negatively impact intel's processor sales.

why are the major players holding back inventory? b/c they can w/o too much pain. give mu lots of money and make them produce all out and bam, they have to go full bore, too.

full bore = higher supply equals lower prices and more profit for intel.

otherwise, i don't see it. does intel need to brow beat the dram guys to sell rdram? seems they'll go where the demand is anyway. is intel trying to create artificial demand?

maybe rambus is the better play here.

That Micron thread is very busy and passionate. Good relevance to Rambus.

Isn't Intel the controlling Mother------? I don't think such methods and intentions are too good for the world economy...

Also, can anyone comment on the latency vs bandwidth issue vis the Virtual Memory Channel challenge? It's been hinted that Intel likes Rambus partly because of the hype associated with everything that is fast and wide.

I was long Rambus from 51 to 62 5/8. (Would have been in at 45, but I heard this voice saying, 'wait, it's going lower...'. Last week on Thursday MSCO was standing on the offer and the price was backing down. Then some big buys came in at around 51 and MSCO disappeared. The stock never looked back. I'm out now, and trying to get a handle on it's valuation. Is Rambus' royalty percentage public knowledge?
