But it may be too late for any product to supplant the Zip. Since millions of Zip
drives have been sold, people feel comfortable saving their data to Zip disks, in
the belief the disks will work in plenty of other PCs and that more and more
new PCs will have Zip drives as standard equipment.

By contrast, even a product with key advantages, like the SuperDisk's
versatility, may falter on the catch-22 principle that there are too few of them
out there to make them a universal standard. In other words, you may never
be a big hit if you weren't a big hit already.
