What does the bb in otcbb stand for?

otcbb = 'Over-The-Counter Bulletin Board'
See otcbb.com for information.
It's an electronic market for stocks that don't qualify
for Nasdaq or exchange listing (eg. illiquid issues,
penny stocks, etc.).

IMPAY used to trade on the otcbb, along with
many other ADRs. However, in April, the otcbb de-listed
a host of ADRs and foreign stocks, including IMPAY

Ostensibly to remove 'unregistered' securities, this seems
to have evicted most of the reputable foreign companies from
the otcbb, while leaving the home-grown penny scam stocks in place.

IMPAY now trades on the 'Pink Sheets', a non-electronic
trading system, so Yahoo no longer carries its quotes (and the
other free quote services just get end-of-day price reports,
rather than intra-day quotes.)

Mike, The questions are good ones. Impay is the symbol. It is an over the counter Bulletin Board stock listed under the symbol, Impay. The real company name is Implats, but, most know it by the old name I prefer, Impala. In fact, the Jo-Burg Stock Exchange listing in Barron's calls it Impala Platinum Holdings.

The bulletin boards are for stocks not a part of Nasdaq and which trade rarely. Most are small cos. Implats is not a small co. But it is South African without a sponsored ADR (American Depository Receipt) trading in the USA. It has an ADR, but it is not sponsored by a US bank or brokerage firm, so it trades once or twice a week here.

Implats is one of the more active stocks on the Johannesburg Exchange, if you have any connections with South African banks. I don't, so I trade the BB ADR.

BTW, you can get quotes and charts and news, such as it is, right here on the SI quotes under Impay. That being said, the last trade is listed as Sept. 18, so you may want to find another source. I get quotes from South Africa and translate them every now and then, but, as it is a long term strategic holding, I don't do it often.
