RE: MSFT most valuable company I think that you are referring to MSFT having the highest capitalization, not the most cash. Of course, MSFT can always issue more stock if it needs cash. The real contest between Linux and WNT is that Linux is an open system in which the source code is freely available while no outsider is allowed to mess with WNT's source code. As a result, MSFT has to pay for all extensions and improvements and fixes to WNT while users can customize privately or share Linux enhancements freely. This is a struggle that is enormously beneficial to everyone, including Microsoft.
