Linux and Informix ... by Phil Hughes

Linux Journal, October '98, page 8

Author, Phil Hughes:

I met with Stephen Lambright, Director of Server Product Marketing in a one-on-one session.

I asked Steve how hard it was to port Informix to Linux. He told me that they just typed "make". There was not a single line of code changed to make Informix SE run on Linux.

I asked around, and apparently the port began with the Solaris version of Informix SE."

Look for a review of Informix SE in Linux Journal next month.

Aren't there more applications in the world written for Unix than Windows?

Got LINUX?

CONTINUED WAY OFF TOPIC:

While I can't say I agree with all your thoughts, I do agree that
the American political system is broken. This two party system
has created an industry of "Ass kissers","Yes men/women",
"Image buffers" and "Career Politicians" that don't know
how to do anything except fund raise and try to retain their meager
grip on what little power they have.

By viewing the voting patterns of Americans you can see that this great "Democracy" has been reduced to "the lesser of two evils" mentality. Most politicians begin their careers as lawyers and end
up in Washington. They go to law school learn the the fine art of
lying, make a careers out of it, then get perverted with a lust
for power and sell their souls to the devil (the party).

I would argue that most Americans feel as I do. The American political
system is hopelessly corrupt and generally distasteful.

We need a REAL multi party system.
What is the difference between a Democrat and a Republican ??
Welfare ? Big Business ? Spend ? Don't Spend ? Christian ? Jew ?

We need a Labor party, a Liberal Party, a Libertarian Party and
any other party to yield a true choice. Not this token false "choice". Americans need REAL choice.
