Carl,

Yes, they are controlled by families: Mostly from father to sons,
or rarely to a founder's brother, too. We never had more than two
generations of Chaebols in Korean history so far. So I don't know
how successfully 2nd+ generations will operate them in the future.

My mom used to tell me "There's no 3 generations of beggers and no 3
generations of riches." Grooming next generation in business is not
that simple according to my family experience. It's easier to make
$$$ than spending $$$ wisely when you are rich, imo. It's really fun
to build wealth. So it's not right to deprive our children from
having fair chances to build their own wealth. It's harder "not to give"
than "giving in", no matter how old our kids are.

Hat's off to McCormick family!
