Yes, maybe we could compromise on several scenarios. One being similiar to what we have today here in the US with conflicting, and competing, standards.

Yes, another one, could be, after years in court, that the Q wins a patent infringement suit and get millions of dollars from competitors using the Q's IPR. However, if it goes to court, the Q may not get anything, too, see?

Third one is that they figure out a way to setlle their differences. How aobut a good olde fashioned beer chugging contest?

I predict that QCOM will be first to market with such an eloquent 3G solution that it won't matter what any standards setting body decides. The market will set the standard, as it should be.
